""The sad feelings I had and the depressing vibe all around disappeared before I had my second bite."
My History with Food.
As far back as I can remember I've had a loving relationship with food. My mother, a first-generation Italian from the Bronx, is a whiz in the kitchen. She can whip up any ol' thing and make it taste like a #michelenstar restaurant. She'd make things that later on as I got older started seeing in menus at some of the finest restaurants. The passed down from generation-to-generation, passion & respect for ingredients in Italian fare.
My earliest #NomNomNom moment was when I was around 12 years old. My grandfather had passed away. It was a tough time to say the least. His presence will always be remembered. Sunday dinners and annual family cookouts were some of my fondest memories with him which all became a memory after his passing. I remember hearing the news and at first, I was in a little shock and denial like it hadn't hit me yet. Then the funeral. Back then it was 2 days of viewing then the funeral. It was a large turnout due to the fact that he was a well-respected man and owner of Tim & Sons Savoy on #ArthurAvenue in the #Bronx. While we were at the service at the burial, I don't know what hit me, but I started bawling my eyes out. Uncontrollable wave of sadness hit me like a ton of bricks. Then the comforting hand of my cousins first wife (my favorite) on my shoulder calmed me down. Fast forward to the repast at the #Knightsofcolumbus where my grandfather was a member. I was still down and not really hungry, but I decided to grab a #BBQ rib off the buffet line, took a bite. Now whatever was going on at the time. The sad feelings I had and the depressing vibe all around disappeared before I had my second bite. The Ribs were so tender so tasty. To this day I don't think I had a better Rib experience like I did that day (And I've been to Texas). Being my grandfather was a butcher I'd like think that this was his way of snapping me out of it and showing me some #Love. I didn't realize it at first but that was the start of this #Journey to discover delicious food.
